Orlando and Beyond
What happens when your best friends invite you on a trip to see a place that you’ve dreamed of visiting your whole life? A chance of a lifetime. For me that chance came in the form of going to Orlando, Florida and seeing Universal Studios up close and personal in spring of 2022.

I’ll Give You A Pass
Friday, October 31st, 2003. I’m in my 5th grade chorus class at Glenwood Elementary around 9am in the morning. Now me being me I was definitely getting on my music teacher’s last nerve, like I always did around that time. So in a routine fashion she sent me to the corner of the room to what you basically could say was a timeout. At some point during this timeout I found myself falling fatigue as my classmates were singing and playing instruments. It’s not uncommon for a kid to fall asleep in class, especially when they are as lazy as me, but it is a bit alarming when the kid isn’t waking up when the adult are desperate trying to wake him.

Mother Memories: Reading & Writing
If your mother’s name was Ruby Lee Spencer chances are she loved music, especially Reggae. Her favorite snacks were sunflower seeds, Diet Pepsi and beef jerky, oh yeah and she made you do a lot of things for the sake of your personal growth and development as an individual that you thought were pointless and at the most useless back when you were a kid, but then you grew up and realized that these things she made you practice were responsible for shaping you into the person you were meant to be. For Ruby’s only son, which is me, this came in the form of reading and writing.

Classic Hip Hop: Death Certificate
By 1990 Ice Cube had departed from the all star ensemble N.W.A. and did what many people thought was impossible and embarked on a successful solo career. His debut solo album Amerikkka’s Most Wanted was an instant platinum hit, along with the equally successful EP Kill at Will. In light of all of this success Cube was just getting started. Like his work with NWA, the subject matter of his solo debut was marred by controversy due to its subject matter and with the unveiling of his full length second album Death Certificate, Cube took controversy and offense to a whole new level.

The L.A. Riots and Beyond: The Why???
On April 29, 1992 the four officers who were accused of beating motorist Rodney King were found not guilty in the charges brought against them for the bloody beating that was caught on camera. For the rest of that day as well as the next couple of days that followed a period of rioting that became known as the L.A. Riots would unfold. 63 people were killed, over 2000 more were injured and over a billion dollars in damages were caused. In the 32 years since those three fateful days in 1992 we have seen countless more riots in the same vain happening for the exact same reason. Many people still don’t understand why, but the answer has always been very clear.
