The Best 5 Cooking Shows to Watch on Netflix and Hulu

These are my favorite shows to watch when I'm studying for exams because I can listen instead of actually watching. I also am a nerd that binge-watches cooking shows more than anything lol.

1. 'The Great British Baking Show' Seasons 1-4

The Great British Baking Show is a baking competition that lasts 10 weeks with a 45 Minute episode each time. It's a wonderful tv show if you enjoy baking, seeing a new type of competition, and seeing a new setting and new techniques of baking. The judges are Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood. Each episode, there are three set tasks: a Signature Bake, The Technical Challenge, and The Show Stopper. Each week a baker is eliminated and the stakes grow higher. This show has four recent seasons. I enjoy that it is set in England we can see different ways of cooking and a new setting.

2. 'Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives'

Guy Fieri takes us all around the U.S. and sometimes out into Europe. He shows many different kinds of restaurants and amazing types of food. I enjoy watching it, especially if I traveling around the country I want to go and get some amazing food. I really enjoy when they try different seafood or even find places in my hometown that I try out. It's always a great tv show I can watch when I want to study because I can listen without watching.

3. 'Guy's Grocery Games'

This cooking show is based in a grocery store and hosted by Guy Fieri. That is a three-way crazy combination that leads to fun! Guy Fieri brings in three celebrity chefs to judge his show and brings in either four amateurs chefs to cook. Each round has a different task set and the chefs have to get through each task. It's always going to be a challenge with a twist that's always fun. Once the winner has been announced they have a chance to win 20,000 dollars by a scavenger hunt. The winner will run around the store with a shopping cart looking for any item that Guy asks for. This is a exhilarating competition that's always fun and never has a dull moment!

4. 'Zumbo’s Just Deserts'

Zumbo’s Just Deserts is placed in New Zealand. Zumbo’s competition is filled with many twists and turns. Zumbo has a creativity that is almost like Willy Wonka and more. There are two rounds in the competition; one is the signature challenge and the last round is the Zumbo Test. The Zumbo Test is when the bakers chance to create one of Zumbo’s creations perfectly. Whoever does it the best will move through to the next round of competition and the other will be eliminated. It's a creative competition that I love to watch and it never has a dull moment.

5. 'Beat Bobby Flay'

Beat Bobby Flay is the one competition when you can trash talk Bobby and get away with it! Bobby Flay will choice two celebrity judges that know him well to find two chefs that can beat him at his own game. During the first round of competition, Bobby will choose a signature ingredient that they have to use and make the star of their gift. The two celebrities will choose who has the best dish and the best skills to beat Bobby Flay. In the second round, Bobby will go against that chef. That chef will choose their signature dish that two have to make to beat Bobby Flay! The dishes will be taste tested by three anonymous judges and they will choose who is the winner, Bobby or the chef. This is one of my favorite shoes that never has a dull moment.

6. 'Cupcake Wars'

Cupcake Wars is nice competition with three rounds with a specific cupcake theme. It can be any theme such as for Cody Simpson, Lance Bass, and many other events. There are three rounds of competition and four bakers. The first round is the baker has to combine a cupcake with a specific ingredient made to match the competition theme. The second round is the the bakers time to create three other great cupcakes that can follow the theme of the competition and also impress the judges. The third round is when the last two bakers standing will create a fantasy cupcake display to hold 1,000 cupcakes and that will be shown at the competition event. I really enjoy watching the competition as it progresses some of the secret ingredients can be from Cumin, to shrimp, to fish. It can be very strange but also an amazing turn out to see how the bakers do.

7. 'The Great British Baking Show Master Class'

This is just like the Great British Baking Show except this has the judges Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood step by step teaching us how to cook the recipes set in the competition. There is four seasons so there is a lot of recipes for them to bake. This is something really exciting because while watching the competition you try to think of how to specifically cook something. But the judges never tell you completely how to cook something because that’ll give it away. I enjoy watching this by creating the dishes and maybe trying to impress others with the skills I’ve learned.

8. The Halloween Baking Championship

I love Halloween more than anyone and watching The Halloween Baking Championship is always awesome. This only plays during the month of October and many episodes are shown. I enjoy watching how the pumpkins are carved, how the desserts are made, and I especially love watching the sugar work and creations being made. This is a fast-paced competition for the creepy and freaky and I enjoy both.

9. 'Kids Baking Championship'

The Kids Baking Championship is a show that really is amazing to see little kids at a young age already have the cooking and baking abilities. The kids in the competition can be as young as 7 years old to an older age. It’s extraordinary to see their creations and skills that are hard to learn at that age but these kids take it like a pro. I really enjoy watching this show when it’s on and when there is nothing else to watch. I always look forward to watching it on certain days of the week. It can never ever get boring in my opinion; then again I’m the person that binge watches cooking shows instead of watching regular tv.

10. 'Cake Wars'

Cake Wars is a very new show; it’s a bit dull though in my opinion. There are two rounds of competition for a cake that will be served during an extraordinary event, such as a birthday for Captain America and a Anniversary of The Archie Comics. There are four bakers and the first round is stated to create small cake following that theme. They have to use a specific secret ingredient in the cake that can be soda, ginger, or raspberries. The second round is they have to make a full tiered cake with decorations and flavors that match the theme. The three bakers will be judged before one of them is chosen as the winner. I enjoy the competition but I feel it’s not as good as Cupcake Wars. Yes cakes take longer but there has to be a way to spice it up. I'd rather watch the Halloween Baking Championship than that.
