Recipe for the Cake
1 1/4 cups flour,all purpose or 1 1/2 cups cake flour
1 cup sugar
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
3/4 cup milk
1/3 cup shortening
1 tsp vanilla
Heat oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour round layer pan, 9x1 1/2 inches.
Beat all ingredients in a large mixer bowl on low speed, scraping the bowl constantly, about 30 seconds. Then beat on high speed, scraping the bowl occasionally, about three minutes. Pour into pan.
