It is truly anything but a cliché, eating fruits keeps your body healthy and this winter, stocking up on seasonal fruits is a must-do. Whether these fruits pop up in your next salad or as a side plate during breakfast, these picks are packed with health benefits – so start chowing down…on fruits that is of course.

Chinese Apple Pomegranates

Chinese apple pomegranates are not only a treat to eat, but also these red, tangy fruits are packed with nutrients your body needs for the long, cold winter ahead. Pomegranates are often praised for containing antioxidants and antimicrobials, which help to protect your body from cell damage and killer germs. But, pomegranates are also brimming with minerals and vitamins - helping to protect us from heart disease and cancer. Don’t skip these in the fruit aisle; stock up.

Cactus Pears

Cactus pears are a very functional fruit to have around the kitchen. They are even great in smoothies, yogurt, fruit salads and cereal. Personally, I recommend dropping a few into your next smoothie – they are beyond delicious and a fun, exotic delicacy. Cactus pears are packed with fiber, magnesium and most importantly, vitamin C. Definitely get cactus pears into your diet today; you’ve got nothing to lose.

Persimmons

Persimmons are not easy to find, but when they are – grab them. These sweet, delicate oriental fruits are also stocked with vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. Low in calories (approximately 70 calories per fruit) and fats, this peachy orange fruit is a fabulous source of dietary fiber, vitamin A, vitamin C, potassium, magnesium and copper. Give persimmons a try for sure.

Pears

Pears are really great because there is a variety of ways to consume them – canned, dried, juiced, fresh and so on. Pears are great for fighting diabetes simply because they contain flavonoids. These common fruits are also crammed with essentials like vitamin C, vitamin K and fiber. As much as the meat of the pear is important, so is its skin. Pear skin has been said to contain antioxidants, anti-cancer phytonutrients and more. Swing by your local grocery story and pick up some pears today.
