Have you ever been on a diet or trying to eat healthier but have a craving for your favourite snack or dessert? It happens all of the time. You make the resolution to eat healthier but quickly get bored with the bland palate of diet foods and soon start to stray from the diet. I know eating healthier can sometimes be boring. At times like these I will scour my online resources for information on what I can create for my next delicious snack.

The quest to eat healthier seems to be never ending but if you’re like me and you have the sweet tooth it makes the quest for healthy eating that much harder. Cookies are a favourite at my house and despite everyone trying to eat healthier these delicious desserts can sometimes get in the way. Desserts are a big thing at my house as well. Almost as big as the actual meal itself. So not wanting to let my family down with a healthy dessert, that is also delicious, I came up with these delicious cookies.

This recipe is for a way to get a sweet cookie fix without eating a ton of sugars. There is no sugar added to this recipe, just natural fruits, which makes this cookie recipe nutritious and delicious. The perfect addition to any packed lunch or as a dessert. No need to eat fruit as a dessert when this delicious baked good is around but they don’t usually last long.

The walnuts in this recipe are optional. They do add a healthy protein boost as well as some healthy fats. Of course, if they can’t be added in due to allergies or if tastes they can be replaced by raisins or cranberries or made simply without any additions. Chocolate chips can also be a welcomed addition but that does lessen the health impact of these cookies. Plus if dried fruit or chocolate chips are added rather than the nuts it’s a delicious and nutritious snack that can easier get by the nut free policies of schools and work places.

I’m always on the lookout for alternative, healthy recipes. Especially healthy dessert recipes and I was not disappointed by these cookies. They are very light and chewy, the perfect snack or dessert. My family hardly even notices the difference with this light dessert as it’s still got that sweet punch to it.

I don’t even really think of these cookies as diet cookies. They’re just a delicious and healthy alternative to buying sugar-loaded store bought cookies or cookies from a bakery. Heck, these cookies are even a lot healthier than other cookies I bake and I often use healthy substitutes.

Without any further delay the delicious cookie recipe awaits. I hope you enjoy making these and eating these as much as I have.

Bon appetite!
