Essential Oils in Cooking? Yes!
Try something new this holiday, give your family a true taste of dill!
Hey everyone!
Yes, it is Easter time again! I just love ham, my mom's famous baked bacon beans, and strawberry shortcake and honey mustard potatoes and all that — YUM. But my favorite of all is the delightfully mouthwatering bite of a deviled egg. One ingredient that I have been experimenting with more within the last year and now cannot live without is dill. I just love the aromatic freshness dill brings to any dish — but this Easter, I hope to add it specifically to my deviled eggs recipe. Deviled eggs are that perfect snacking food to hold you over while you're waiting for that big meal at supper time. I sometimes use those dried herbs from the grocery store and usually that works okay, but when it's a holiday and I am bringing something...I want it to have showstopper flavor!
That is when I break out the big guns: my YoungLiving vitality oils. There are in fact two different dill products with YoungLiving: DILL VITALITY is specifically made for cooking with or ingesting while DILL is designed like any other treatment/aromatic oil.
I simply cannot wait to try these. Now you may be thinking, "An essential oil in food?" And yes that may sound crazy but, it has an incredible spring freshness and strength of flavor. Like the intensity of that smell of fresh cut grass and the cool calming softness of cucumbers. Ohhhhh yeahhhhh.
So if you want to add a bit more ZING! to that old dusty recipe, try using an essential oil to spruce things up because yes, the vitality line is totally ingestible and so beneficial to your health. Dill is actually one of the most calming essences out there. And trust me, I do feel a difference when I eat it or breathe it in... I feel very calm. It is like a summer afternoon and a warm breeze is coming in through the window kinda feeling. So without further adieu here is a dill deviled egg recipe that is sure to impress at your momma's house on April 1st, Easter Sunday.
DILL DEVILED EGGS
Ingredients:
- 6 hard boiled eggs cut in half lengthwise, yolks put aside
- 1 TBSP minced chives
- 2 TBSP minced celery (I do not like celery so I replace with peeled, finely diced cucumber and it is AMAZING, just FYI)
- 5 drops YL DILL VITALITY (make sure to blend with a carrier oil, I used coconut)
- Pinch of salt
- Horseradish sauce to taste
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- Dash of black pepper
Instructions:
Blend all ingredients with the yolks of your 6 boiled eggs (a fork works best). Use a spoon or piping bag (if you're fancy) and fill each egg white half with a heart dollop of yolk mixture. Garnish each egg with a sprinkle of Paprika and Parsley. ENJOY!
