Okay, I'm not going to lie to you. I'm no pro when it comes to espresso, but I know what I like, and that's the important thing. Fact is, I am not good at making that all important foam and artistic pictures like hearts, swans, and such. You don't have to be! But I did recently find out about the steam that makes the foam. Don't feel bad if you mess this up, even burn yourself learning how to do it, because it kind of takes practice. So, keep trying you'll get it, at least that's what they tell me! :-)
My Little Piece of Heaven!
You don't need a big, fancy espresso machine like they have at coffee shops. Especially if you're not making it in volume, like for a big party or something. I got this little jewel for Christmas one year, and believe me, it was enough for me to handle. There are all kinds of recipes online that you can get for espresso, simple ones you can work up to and have fun with. Don't worry too much about the steam frothing part. That can wait. There are alternatives. But hey, if you can do it, and you're good at it, kuddos!
I don't have a fancy coffee grinder. It's electric, small but what I need to make at least four cups of nice, rich espresso. It's not for everyone, and I wouldn't suggest drinking it everyday, because it's very strong. Definitely don't drink this before bed! You will regret it.
It is fun, though, to get and sample different flavored coffee beans! If you have a small, electric grinder, like I do, you only need to press your button down for two seconds. You don't want to grind it too fine. It needs to be kind of coarse.
Cafe Mocha Recipe
- 4 ounces of coffee dark roast
- 1 ounce chocolate sauce or powder
- 4 ounces of milk
- 1 topping whipped cream
- Steam or froth milk. Separate the milk and foam. Add chocolate powder to the steamed milk a beat with a whisk. Pull espresso shot. Pour chocolate milk over espresso. Top with foam and whipped cream if desired.
**You can also use skim milk if preferred. But, with whole milk its about 172 calories per serving.
**Also, realize that you make this recipe after you've made the espresso in your pot. Then go from there. Just sayin' :-) to be clear.
Latte Art without the Steam
This video is particularly helpful if you are freaked out by the steam! That's okay. You are going to need a handy dandy little wand to do this, though. But you'll find its really easy.
Haven't forgotten about the cookie! Below is a delightful video to make simple, delicious biscotti :-) hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
I know that you can buy these in just about any grocery, or specialty store but, it's just seems special when you can make your own and have something to brag to your friends about. LOL! So have fun making these delightful cookies. They are perfect melt-in-your-mouth treats. Especially when you dunk them in your delicious espresso. You'll be in heaven.
Recipe with Instruction
This is the best biscotti recipe I've seen! Really easy to understand. These delightful Italian cookies add flavorful flair to your relaxation, or to have a little something while you're working, or on a break, if you work at home like I do. They go so well with tea or coffee of any kind, even iced coffee. Enjoy!
