Visiting the largest city in Oregon? These eateries are must-stops during your time in Portland. With options ranging from Mexican, to Italian, to sushi, these are the best restaurants in Portland for every preference.

Between visiting the Lewis and Clark National and State Historial Parks and the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry, take a break to indulge in some of the best fine-dining of the world. As one of the best cities for foodies, you're going to want to take a look at this list.

Holdfast Dining

Holdfast Dining is not your typical fine-dining. With reservation-based seating, and only one offering at seven in the evening, there is a fixed price per meal. The restaurant is inside a winery, the Fausse Piste to be exact, which is located in SE Portland. The meal is a nine-course tasting menu that is the same to all guests.

This includes five beverages that are paired with each food, and costs a total of $105 per person. Plus, there are specials each month that can be found on their website. If you're looking for a luxury night out, Holdfast Dining is one of the best restaurants in Portland for you.

Mucca Osteria

Mucca Osteria is one of the best restaurants in Portland for Italian cuisine. As authentic as you can get, the eatery makes their own pasta, bread, and even has fresh desserts to choose from. With traditional Italian recipes and an inviting atmosphere, you won't regret choosing this elegant spot for dinner while visiting.

Plus, what is Italian food without wine? Mucca Osteria has over 190 choices, all originating from Italy. If you want to take your experience up a notch, there is a five-course tasting menu that will feature all of their best dishes, including appetizers, main courses, and dessert.

Chalino

Looking for the best spot for Mexican food in Portland? Chalino is the place to go. Inspired by Mexico, the menu has global cuisine options that all fall into the Mexican palette. Try their Chicarrones or the Halibut Ceviche.

And of course, complete your meal with drink options for seasonal cocktails, wine, beer, or your choice of mezcals or tequila. We recommend trying La Experiencia, which is the chef's tasting menu that rotates daily to feature the best dish for you. Visit them for lunch, dinner, or drinks.

Restaurant St Jack

Restaurant St Jack is a French eatery that has dedicated their menu to mimicking a cafe in Lyon, France. As one of the best restaurants in Portland, St Jack has a warm and welcoming atmosphere that will be a place of great conversation and even better food.

Try their Mussels Mariniere, which is caramelized fennel, shallot capers white wine, fine herbs, and a bit of dijon and butter.

Willow Restaurant

Located in Southeast Portland, Willow Restaurant is a multi-course eatery that has a fixed price of $50 per meal. Make sure to reserve your table at either their 6 PM or 8:30 PM. Advertised as an interactive meal, sitting at their Chef's Counter is an experience you're not going to want to pass by.

Perfect for a romantic date night, the restaurant is intimate and inviting. Their two Chefs will even great you as you enter their eatery, Doug Weiler and John Pickett.

Andina Restaurant

As one of the best restaurants in Portland for traditional Peruvian food, Andina is a spot you're going to have to make during your stay in the largest city of Oregon. The owner, Doris Rodriguez de Platt, has created a menu to portray her own Andean roots.

Their menu is extensive, with options for happy hour drinks and food, a wine list, lunch menu, entrees, gluten-free, vegan menu, dessert menu, Spirits, and Tapas. Plus, its one of the best places to brunch. You have no excuse not to give it a shot.

Coquine

As one of the best restaurants in Portland, Coquine serves a variety of options, depending on the season. Chef Katy Millard is the mastermind behind the cuisine, and you are not going to want to leave the city without having a bite of her dishes.

However, they are only open Wednesday through Friday for dinner, so make sure to schedule this into your routine. You can even order their mouth-watering cookies, to be shipped to your home!

Moda Center at The Rose Quarter

The Moda Center is home to a huge variety of events, which even includes sporting events and concerts. Though it might not be your typical idea of a sit-down restaurant and mood lighting, it is an experience that everyone should have while visiting the city.

With over 70 concession stands and beverage location, the Moda Center is the spot to get a bit of every restaurant icon. And we can't forget the best part, which is the incredible view of the Portland skyline.

Higgins Restaurant and Bar

Another seasonal eatery, Higgins Restaurant and Bar builds their courses around the foods that are most fertile. Their atmosphere is described as very cozy and the service is always attentive, courteous, and often funny.

Plus, each meal is prepared and presented with care. A great spot to celebrate or have a romantic evening, Higgins is a go-to eatery when in Oregon.

Bamboo Sushi NW

In need of an amazing sushi joint? Bamboo Sushi NW is the place for you. As one of the best restaurants in Portland, this spot was actually the first certified sushi restaurant in the world! With only the freshest meals, each serving is filled with flavor. And you'll never have to worry about the authenticity of their sushi.

Plus, the menu is extensive, there's a meal for every sushi craving. But the best option is the Chef's Choice Sashimi, which is the best items of the day, as chosen by the Chef.
